Dear Band and Readers of the Guest Book... I was just sitting outside enjoying the cold cold winter that has seriously arrived when I came to the conclusion that its okay to record other peoples music. Now, before anyone gets hot over this, I must explain in a few short paragraphs.
Ever since the invention of the recorder, the tape recorder that is, people have been recording licensed material for personal use. This is okay. This is a good thing.
It gets bad when the individuals totally disregard the entity that enabled them to have access to that material. When people record mass amounts of material for their own selfish reasons, and don't give credit where credit is due, that my friends is absolutely unfair and is equlivalent to stealing. So, I have a confession.
A friend of mine put two Garbage songs on a CD he burned for me and I was so elated by it I went to the library and borrowed the Beautiful Garbage CD for like... two months! I put some songs on tapes and loved and loved and loved it. I wanted to buy the CD, I really did.. but between modeling for $10/hour, and trying desperetely to pay my rent, my car payments and my insurance, I was getting sickly skinny and horribly depressed. So, at that time I couldn't afford it. Still, I want the whole CD. I want it because I want Garbage to keep moving up. Rock Stars they all are and they are the cream of the crop as we say in good old Columbus, OH the land of the Buckeyes. Must say I totally disagree with Shirley being angry on downloading songs from the Internet.
I feel it is wrong for musicians to hold monopole over price of their CD.
Why should I pay 15 $ for it if I want to listen just some of their songs???
Yeah, yeah, they say you cannot chop songs cos they are a part of one piece but that is just utter crap.
When you walk into a meat-store and ask for a steak you don½t buy the bones with it (if you do, you are either an ass or like getting ripped off).
It is the same with the music.
I am a big fan of Garbage but some of their songs aren½t good to me.
